About the role

BMD Constructions is seeking a motivated and career-driven Graduate Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role offers hands-on experience across site-based engineering, project coordination, and construction delivery.

As a Graduate Engineer, you will play an integral role in supporting engineers and supervisors to deliver projects safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality. Key responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of project drawings, specifications, and compliance requirements across quality, safety (OH&S), and environmental standards
  • Support the implementation of project quality, safety, and environmental management plans
  • Assist in monitoring and updating construction programmes to ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure materials are ordered and delivered in line with project timelines
  • Support the assessment and processing of subcontractor progress claims and monthly reporting requirements
  • Assist in preparing and submitting project progress claims
  • Monitor site activities, variations, delays, and extensions of time, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Work closely with site teams to track daily production, resource efficiency, and project costs
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, meetings, and inspections
  • Support compliance through quality inspections, documentation, and record keeping
  • Actively engage in training and development initiatives to enhance technical and professional skills

 

About you

  • Recently completed (or near completion of) a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong understanding of construction principles and a desire to build a career in the civil construction industry
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach on site
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and seek guidance from senior team members
  • Commitment to safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites (including regional or interstate if required)
