Area Assistant Chef - RCT 

£13.02 per hour   

22 hours per week

The opportunity: 

As an Area Assistant Chef, you’ll provide delicious and nutritious meals for our tenants. You’ll be sourcing fresh food, working to a budget, supporting to lead the team alongside the Area Chef Manager and ensuring we are constantly providing a high-quality service in line with food hygiene standards!   

Mealtimes are important, so we are looking for someone who can support our teams to create exciting menus and recipes; after all, some of the happiest memories are made around the dinner table. Some of our tenants may have cultural or dietary requirements, we are looking for someone who understands the variety of needs we cater for and strives to provide food that our tenants enjoy.  

You’ll be working across two of our state-of-the-art extra care schemes in Aberdare and Pontypridd.  

What we need from you: 

• Communication skills – you’ll be working closely with the Area Chef, assistant chefs, a team of food service assistants and our tenants; they love to chat, so we need you to be approachable and friendly too. 

• Qualifications & experience - you’ll need some qualifications for this role, these includes NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation / Catering (or equivalent), and Food Hygiene Level 2. We offer lots of training and support, we even have a training team who are dedicated to provide you with all the tools you need to succeed. We are also looking for someone who has at least 2 years experience of working in a kitchen environment  

• Organisational skills – you’ll support with menu plans, stock control, complete HACCP documents, adhere to Food Hygiene regulations and work to the budget. So, we need someone who has a good understanding of the day to day running of a kitchen, as well as the ability to cook delicious & nutritious meals.  

• Flexibility – We are looking for someone who has flexibility to work across both our sites with occasional short notice changes to rotas to accommodate holidays, sickness & training. Both our schemes are conveniently located near to public transport links
