Formula E trackside Technician (x 2)

Mercedes AMG HPP are seeking Exceptional Trackside Technicians to support Formula E activity within our world Championship winning team. The challenge for formula E from 2019 onwards is to ensure we maximise car on track time by efficiently preparing for and maintaining the entire power unit for race and test events at the track. A resident build expert with overall knowledge of the motor and gearbox assembly and techniques will therefore be required to allow ease of maintenance and component swapping of any sub assembly or auxiliary part as required on specific areas of the power unit.

To be Successful in this role you will...

In Addition to the Completion of mechanical or electrical operations at the track to produce or maintain components or assemblies in a Safe manner, to the determined quality standard, consistent with prevailing processes or standard operating procedures applicable at the time the Senior Mechanic will;

 

 - Organise the parts and plan fitting in line with the Trackside program manager’s requests / strategy

 - Advance plan the movement of equipment for further events

 - Proactively liaise with the customer to help with planning resources

 - Be the role model Mechanic for HPP trackside team

 - Help in all areas of HPP set up at a race and during the event by being able to take on any role to support your team.

The additional mechanic responsibilities Included in the role are;

- Set up and operate garage workspace and equipment at FE races and tests

- Prepare Fluids and checklists ready for use

- Dress Powerunit for chassis installation & Support as required within the constraints of the team

- Prepare PU for installation in chassis (Safety check ESS, Condition, Fill & Bleed water & oil systems as per process)

- Ensure accurate data is entered for product traceability (e.g. Serialisation and Cleco)

- Routinely liaise with PU engineers and PM’s

- Complete all service activities detailed on the active job lists

- Support Grid Operation

- Highlight Faults and issues as they arise and report through relevant business system

- Supporting Aero tests and Promotional events as required

- Support departmental Qualitity and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

- At Factory support turnround activities on both product and services to support ongoing events (e.g. Calibration, Spares replenishment etc.)

Therefore you will need to demonstrate the following skills, Knowledge and experience..

  • Previous Trackside experience within a similar Formula E operation related role
  • Motor and Gearbox Build, to include test servicing and support activities,
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to respond and manage self under pressure
  • Understanding essential areas of Atlas to support PU operation.
  • KERs System installation, Servicing, safety checking and preparation for use
