Validation Engineer

Mercedes AMG HPP are seeking an exceptional Validation Engineer to join our world championship winning team at Brixworth. The purpose of the role is take system requirements and relevant legislations, generate ideas, devise and run test programmes to develop a powertrain validation that delivers across all aspects, be capable of developing system V cycles from high level vehicle requirements and completing high quality testing, develop bespoke data analysis methods to show that validation has been met from general running data, fault find and show trend analysis and be responsible for the system compliance and robustness as well as the maintenance of the diagnostic matrices across the various powertrain components.

THEREFORE WE NEED YOU TO...

Be skilled at...

  • Running test programmes using simulation, test rigs, dynos or customer vehicles.
  • Data analysis and reporting of results and conclusions. Advanced user of MATLAB, INCA, MDA, Concerto, CANape, Simulink
  • Rig and dyno testing of sub systems and full powertrains in order to support the characterisation, calibration development and validation of the product.
  • Working with project customers, suppliers and other internal teams to develop solutions in short time frames
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Have experience of...

  • Dyno testing of full powertrains in order to develop and calibrate power unit control strategies to meet legislations and achieve best performance.
  • Develop bespoke data analysis methods to process big data.
  • Developing system specifications from vehicle requirements and validation tests to prove out the product
  • Fault investigation and trend analysis.
  • Dyno and vehicle testing to complete product validation through detailed understanding of the product functionality
  • Proven gasoline engine calibration experience on common supplier architectures (Bosch, Continental etc)
  • Fault tree creation
  • Plug-in hybrid system development / implementation
  • Developing FMEAs

Demonstrate knowledge of...

  • Broad overall knowledge of internal combustion engines, turbo charging and hybrid systems.
  • Knowledge of hybrid powertrain test facilities.
  • Defining and running effective test programs.
  • Product validation procedures.
  • Calibration processes

Hold these qualifications...

  • Applicants must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering (2:1 or above)
