As a Build Automation Graduate you will:

  • Contribute to a team effort in creating bespoke, special purpose machines to automate the manufacture of high value, low volume and complex Power Unit (PU) assemblies
  • Be Involved in the design and creation of new Automation and Control Systems
  • Design and create software for PLC and HMI’s
  • Identify new and emerging technologies that can be used to bolster automation at HPP
  • Liaise with suppliers to help deliver automation projects

You will have access to our latest designs, which will give you exposure to F1 Engineering drawings or cad models of real products, and you will have the scope to work on both mechanical and electronic or hybrid products. You will also have the opportunity to work towards chartered status with the IMechE via our MPDS registered scheme and will be assigned a personal mentor who will support you throughout.

What do we need from you?

  • A curious, tenacious and driven individual with a hunger to work in a fast paced environment
  • You’ll have achieved a minimum of 2:1, or above, in a relevant Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering or Mechatronics degree;
  • You will ideally be skilled at PLC, HMI and NC runtime systems in in either  Beckhoff TwinCat or CODESYS
  • Demonstrate knowledge of:
    • Industrial automation, motion systems, robotics,  in-process inspection and measurement  techniques
    • Automation system architecture
    • Engineering first principles to an excellent level
  • The creativity and innovation to overcome engineering challenges
  • Being self-motivated and thorough is essential as well as a keen interest in engineering and engineering solutions
  • An interest in cars or racing is not a prerequisite, although the thirst for knowledge will help you to deliver
  • A willingness to go the extra mile to help the team succeed
  • Be motivated to deliver truly revolutionary systems
  • Adaptable and creative with an impetus to adopt new and emerging technologies
  • If you can demonstrate an ability to embrace change and rise to challenges set by your line manager
  • Have proven interpersonal skills, self-motivated and constantly strives for perfection
