Automation Engineer - Assembly

Purpose of the role is to… • Develop Automation and Robotic systems for all aspects of PU assembly prior to deploying them into production. Specifically, around the nuances of the automated assembly process. • Design flexible solutions from a mechanical bias and to deliver within a multi-disciplined Automation team. • Generate specifications of mechanical requirements, detailed designs, drawings, and schematics. • Support the transition of the design into manufacture, assembly, test, and production. • Identify new to HPP and emerging technologies to help expand HPP’s repertoire in Automation. • Strive for efficient and compact designs. • Work to pertinent directives, standards and HPP polices to deliver safe and compliant solutions. • Explicitly understand the current PU assembly requirements and to work closely with Engine Build. • Be innovative within your role to continuously build capability to deliver competitive advantages through new assembly techniques.

Be skilled at…

  • Mechanical machine design and hands on assembly.
  • Specifying a broad range of automation paraphernalia.  Such as linear and rotary actuators, sensors, cable management, etc.
  • Report writing for all regulatory requirements.
  • Generating BoM’s and Production Drawings to deliver and install all equipment on time and to budget.
  • Risk Assessments.

Have experience of…

  • Industrial automation.
  • PU Assembly.
  • Robotic applications.

Demonstrate knowledge of…

  • Machine vision and metrology integration.
  • Virtual Commissioning and Digital Twins.
  • Electrical control systems and software programming.

Hold these qualifications…

  • BEng in some form of Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering or Mechatronics degree.
  • HNC qualifications with several years of industrial experience will be considered.

Be…

  • Excellent understanding of automation machines.
  • Excellent communication skills to be able work across a multi-functional team to encompass all requirements.
  • Exemplary in delivering high quality work.

  • Deliver mechanical designs and work closely with the greater Automation Group to develop and deliver automated PU assembly solution into production. In a timely manner, to a high quality and specification.
  • Continuously develop and create new capabilities within the Automation Group.
  • Identify Issues and offer innovative solutions to solve them, taking a holistic view of any problem-solving task.
