The E3 Academy supports the development of young people interested in challenging careers in leading UK engineering companies. As well as holding scholarships at the participating universities, E3 scholars are supported with vacation work placements, summer schools and company mentoring, with the potential to lead to employment after graduation. Here at Brixworth, as the use of technology in our workplace evolves, we understand the importance of electrical engineers, specifically in the Motor Control area, in order to continue to develop and progress. We are explicitly aware of the role of students as part of a future talent pipeline and intend to provide advice, support and guidance to our scholars to ensure a high quality experience. We hope to provide a stimulating and challenging environment that inspires young engineers to pursue a career in Motor Control.

We are looking to sponsor good motivated students who:

  • are about to begin a course, or are in the early years of a course, at the Universities of Nottingham, Newcastle or Bristol
  • will be studying for an MEng or BEng Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a Degree with a significant Electrical component
  • are EU citizens or have a permanent right to work in the UK after graduation


Academy Scholars will benefit from:

  • bursary of £2,500 each year of study
  • 8 weeks paid summer training, £1250 per month
  • Academy events, such as the Summer School, where they will become acquainted with the E3 community
  • 1/3 university fees incurred by HPP during their sponsorship, to the maximum of £6000 will be paid in 2 equal instalments at the end of 1st and 2nd years of graduate employment with their sponsoring company


E3 Academy scholars are expected:

  • to be ambassadors for the Academy, the company providing sponsorship and the university at which they are studying.
  • to maintain a high level of academic progress at university
  • to assist in the promotion and marketing of the Academy.
  • to attend any seminars, meetings etc. as organised by the Academy.
  • to participate in the vacation training organised by the sponsoring company.


The application process involves three stages:

  • an initial application, which can be completed on the E3 website by following the link below
  • if your initial application is accepted, you will be invited to complete a more detailed full application form. The closing date for full applications is midday on 30 April 2021. It is not possible to accept late applications.
  • based on the information supplied in the two application forms, we will invite selected applicants to attend a selection event (including interview). These events will be scheduled in July 2021
