Reliability Engineer

Purpose of the role is to… Drive “right first time” approach in our pursuit of designing reliable and performant engineering solutions. This will be achieved through the facilitation of forward looking Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities to prevent failures at the start of the design process, bookended with the running of, and active participation in our faults meeting when issues have arisen. An integral part of the role is involvement in concept and design reviews, as well as capturing our lessons learnt and feeding them back into our design methodology through ownership of our fault resolution processes. Understanding how the PU is used is pivotal to this role, with a level of event support (track and dyno) to ensure a good understanding of real life application, as well as working alongside the works team to improve our collective approach to designing for reliability. The owner of the role will also help to collate and police the functional safety aspects of our power unit.

  • Engineering design, at a component and system level, preferably mechanical and electrical (>3 years)
  • DFMEA & related predictive tools (preferably within F1 environment) (>2 years)
  • Failure analysis and root cause analysis (>1 year)
  • Problem solving in a fast paced, high technology industry

Demonstrate knowledge of…

  • Relevant problem solving, efficiency and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Complex assembly/disassembly
  • Importance of considering safety in the design process

  • Update the design standard to influence RFT Engineering based on DFMEA’s and the issues arising in the faults meetings
  • Harmonise design approach between PU and chassis, whilst acknowledging and respecting where differences in approach are necessary
  • Produce and maintain credible KPI’S that demonstrate progress
