Engineering Methods Engineer

Purpose of the role is to… The “Engineering Methods Engineer” will help to define ‘World Class Engineering Practice’ across the Product Engineering Department The “Engineering Methods Engineer” will be instrumental in delivering solutions to enhance the capability of the Product Engineering Team through the creation and enhancement of lean, value adding tools and supporting documents (policies, procedures, documents) focussing exclusively on improving the quality and rate of our “excellence first time” engineering. Driving out inefficiency and non-value added tasks from the product development journey is key to success. A significant part of this role is to champion best practices in fundamental design methodology through activities such as “lessons learnt”, ensuring we truly learn and implement change as a result of these activities. The role holder will be proactive in seeking out areas for improvement across the Product Engineering team, making suggestions and piloting change in advance of a thorough roll out.

Have experience of…

  • Extensive, demonstrable experience in product design & development with a track record for “right first time” , and a true belief in the value of tools, methods and techniques
  • Experience in manufacturing & assembly processes, including automation, and their importance to inclusive product design
  • Background in Continuous Improvement activities, including lessons learnt

Demonstrate knowledge of…

  • Proficient in 3D modelling (CATIA/NX)
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Proficient in Visual Basic
  • Knowledge of PLM / SAP environments
  • Knowledge of ‘lean’ / ‘continuous improvement’  methods

Hold these qualifications…

  • Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline (2:1 or higher)


  • Driven individual with a passion for implementing change focused on continuous improvement
  • Outgoing personality with pro-active, hands on, innovative approach to problem solving
  • Can do attitude, driven to succeed
  • Excellent, engaging communicator and presenter
