Purpose of the role is to…
Be the Mercedes HPP specialist for the design, validation, testing & operation of our electronics hardware products from concept to the end user, in one (or more) of these areas:
-
- Power Electronics inverter design up to 1000Vdc and 350kW
- Design and optimize WBG power module design, gate drives, and associated HV/LV measurements
- Interact closely with mechanical, software and performance engineer for system optimization
- Own the inverter and motor (PMSM or like) hardware operation.
- Validation, test and simulation of inverter hardware.
- Own pioneering solutions from concept to delivery

- Operating in a challenging electronics engineering environment
- Power electronics
- Inverter design with power modules, gate drives, and DC-link capacitor
- Testing power modules, gate drives, thermal testing, loss measurements
- Schematic capture and layout (OrCAD/Allegro or similar)
- Analysing & understanding complex data.
- Circuit, and system simulation or FE analysis (LTSpice / PLECS / Ansys)
- Motorsport environment

Demonstrate knowledge of…

- Automotive electrical powertrain operation (strong)
- Electronic hardware design - analogue & high speed digital (advanced)
- Signal Integrity and operation in noisy environments – EMC

Hold these qualifications…

- BEng / BSc Qualified (2:1 minimum) in Electrical Engineering or similar
- MEng/MSc Qualified in Electrical Engineering or allied discipline

- Ensure that the products are fully functional at the point of delivery, and also for ensuring that issues and faults are dealt with rapidly
- Act autonomously, ensuring accountability and ownership for the task in hand
- Deliver ‘right first time’ solution considering performance, durability, obsolescence, cost & other key programme metrics
- Design & development of new or existing electronics hardware
- Identify new performance differentiating technologies and accelerating their development
