This role is pivotal in ensuring that our engineering knowledge, processes, and compliance requirements are captured, structured, and communicated effectively across the business. You will work closely with engineers and specialists to create high-quality documentation that underpins regulatory compliance, training, and technical knowledge transfer.
You will play a vital role in supporting the design, build, delivery, and operation of our in-house industrial automation machines , ensuring that every machine is delivered with the correct technical documentation, compliance records, and supporting guides.
What you’ll be doing:
Regulatory Compliance Documentation
Develop, maintain, and control documentation required for CE/UKCA marking and related standards.
Ensure compliance of our in-house industrial automation machines with The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations and relevant directives.
Support the definition of machine specifications and ensure compliance assessments are fully documented.
Knowledge Capture & Transfer
Create and maintain internal wiki content, design guides, SOPs, and standards to support consistency across engineering teams.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical knowledge into clear, structured, and accessible documentation.
Training & Assessments
Design training content, user guides, and assessments to support engineers, operators, and new starters.
Produce engaging process-specific guides , including CAD-based illustrations, animations, and visual aids.
Technical Communication & Visualisation
Work with CAD data to generate illustrations, schematics, and animations for manuals, guides, and compliance documentation.
Develop documentation for complex systems, machinery, and processes to ensure clarity and accuracy.
What we’re looking for:
Proven experience in technical writing, technical communication, or technical authoring , ideally in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g. CE/UKCA marking, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations , or ISO standards).
Strong skills in technical illustration, CAD visualisation, and content structuring .
Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Experience with knowledge management systems (e.g. wikis, document control systems, content management platforms).
Passion for precision, clarity, and continuous improvement in documentation.
