  • HEW 5 $80,199 - $89,950 + 17% Superannuation (pro rata, part time)

As a Marine Technical Office, you will:

  • Gather relevant technical information and seek the expertise and advice of other people as appropriate, to provide technical and research support to practical teaching and research programs
  • Provide technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of specialised instrumentation in the discipline area and prepare materials for classes
  • Promote and apply Occupational Health and Safety standards across the school environments especially those involving research and teaching laboratory activities
  • Coordinate on a day-to-day basis, within the designated area of responsibility, materials and equipment requirements of staff and students for the running of practical teaching classes within the specified disciplines of expertise
  • Maintain stock control procedures in conjunction with the Technical Coordinator on an ongoing basis
  • Trial new experiments and modify existing experiments to ensure the optimal smooth running of practicals within the designated area of responsibility

                                                                                                                                                                           

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in a suitable biological science without subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience working in a related field or discipline in higher education or a similar large complex environment
  • Good knowledge of OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) (Occupational Health and Safety) principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards
