The Adviser, Research Contracts prepares simple research contracts and manages the administration and operational aspects of research contracts and agreements across competitive and non-competitive funding. The role will be required to manage the workflow of contracts, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and coordinating communications between various stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be trained in the fundamentals of research contract preparation.

As an Adviser, Research Contracts you will:

  • Under the guidance of senior team members, review, draft and negotiate a range of competitive and commercial research agreements ensuring the contractual terms and conditions are compliant with University policies, processes, and requirements
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders including Legal, Research Finance, and research teams across the University to enable efficient and streamlined contract management processes
  • Liaise with external funding agencies, industry partners, research collaborators, and external peer networks to inform and enable best practice in research contract negotiations and execution
  • Support post-award processes to ensure the contractual requirements of respective funding bodies are met, data collection and reporting of these activities is accurate and the university's reputation with external funding bodies is protected and enhanced
  • Collaborate closely with other contracts team members and provide relevant advice within your areas of subject matter expertise

                                                                                                                                                                                      

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, apply and improve new skills
  • Experience in administration and related activities in a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures

Preferred

  • Progress toward or completion of a research higher degree in health sciences or a related field.
