We are seeking a passionate Emergency Physician to join our professional group of Medical Officers in staffing our busy Emergency Department at St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital in central Ipswich.
This is a Permanent Full-Time role.
St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital is a 178-bed hospital and is revolutionising private health care in the Ipswich and West Moreton region. We’ve been growing and expanding our clinical capabilities and have recently opened the region’s first private emergency department along with a new intensive care unit which supports the Emergency Department. An additional 81 new private patient rooms and new operating theatres and sterilising department have also been added to our hospital. A new Women’s and Children’s unit provides quality local obstetric and paediatric services, supported by three new labour delivery suites. A new Renal Dialysis Unit was opened in November 2018, to further expand our clinical capabilities and enhance our position as a treatment centre of choice. The redevelopment of our hospital also included the redesign of our rehabilitation services, which is now a 39-bed rehabilitation/medical ward and a state-of-the-art gymnasium; a new rehabilitation day program and outpatient services.
About the Role
Our Emergency Department delivers 24 hour emergency care with an emphasis on the delivery of 5 star quality services. As a team, our patient’s well-being is our top priority and our goal is to continue to provide efficient, services with minimal waiting periods.
As the Emergency Physician you will be responsible for the acute clinical care of patients in the Emergency Department. You will report to the Emergency Department Director and work with a talented team of ED Nurses, Medical Professionals and Clinical Support Staff.
To succeed in this role you will demonstrate experience as an Emergency Physician and have a sound understanding of the professional and legislative requirements of a health care setting. You will be a positive, honest and ethical individual with a strong team focus and excellent patient communication skills.
You will also demonstrate;
- Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or awaiting recognition (‘near’ FACEM)
- Access to an unrestricted Medicare Provider Number desirable

St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital in particular, offers staff parking, a wide range of in hospital services and range of dining and commercial options in the nearby Ipswich city centre.
On offer are two levels of remuneration for ‘FACEM’ and ‘near FACEM’ candidates;
- FACEM : $150.00 per hour for day and evening shifts. $180.00 per hour for night shifts. Fee share 50% of Medicare Billings.
- Near FACEM : $120.00 per hour for day and evening shifts. $140.00 per hour for night shifts.
