Psychologist – Team Leader

12 months part time fixed term contract leadership opportunity for an experienced Psychologist with an established mental health background to join our team (64 hours per fortnight) at The Southport Private Hospital


About the Role

The Mental Health Ward at The Southport Private Hospital, has an opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to our team. This leadership position oversees the provision of psychologist services in our 48 bed mental health unit and group therapy day programmes. This is a fixed term contract to cover 12 months maternity leave.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Psychologist -Team Leader will provide line management and leadership for the mental health team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the department overseeing the psychology team.

You will also be supported and guided by a close-knit team to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.


About You

You will be a qualified Psychologist with proven experience leading and organising evidenced based therapeutic group therapy and both outpatient and inpatient programs. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of organisational and problem solving skills. Strong leadership skills are key to this role as you will be leading and supporting a diverse team of health professionals.

This role will suit someone with a passion for a high standard of client care and with strong knowledge of industry best-practice in the field.

You will also bring;

  • Recognised Tertiary qualifications as a Psychologist
  • Full registration with AHPRA or Professional body.
  • Training & experience in therapeutic group leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise effective customer focused services
  • Ability to lead, manage and mentor a team
  • Post graduate qualifications discipline specific or Mental Health specific

On offer is a base hourly rate ranging from; $58.48 to $61.83 + superannuation and based on experience (Qld Allied Health Professionals P04.1 to P04.3)
