We are seeking an experienced senior nursing professional to take on an exciting clinical management role in our Perioperative Services Department at John Flynn Private Hospital.

The successful candidate will be an individual with a passion for quality patient care, and we invite local and interstate applicants to take on this rare opportunity to join a highly respected private hospital on Queensland’s vibrant Gold Coast. 

John Flynn Private Hospital is newly renovated, boasting a new state-of-the-art 24-hour Emergency Department, two new theatres and a 30-bed surgical ward. We host a wide range of surgical specialities including Cardiothoracic, General, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Robotic surgery. At John Flynn, you will have the opportunity to hone your management skills and lead a team of committed professionals in delivering exceptional care using best practice frameworks.

About the Role

The John Flynn Perioperative department has 12 main theatres and offers and extensive number of surgical specialities. As Nurse Unit Manager, your role will encompass planning, implementing and evaluating practices, processes and services within the department to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Working in a key leadership position, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate outstanding relationship building skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders including other perioperative managers and the broader hospital community.

Key accountabilities include liaising with scheduling and APs rooms to manage theatre operating sessions, the efficient management of staff (recruitment, rostering and performance) and mentoring of team members.

About You

To succeed in this role you will bring a strong clinical leadership skill set in a hospital setting either as a Clinical/Nursing Manager in a similar department or as a senior nurse wanting to step into a management role. You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor your team. You will be a leader with a passion for seeing your team members succeed and grow while bringing a strong commitment to outstanding client care and service.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications and registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse;
  • Minimum three (3) years’ scrub/scout experience in a perioperative nursing environment;
  • Proven knowledge as a senior nurse or manager in a similar nursing environment;
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical skills and experience within perioperative nursing including delivering high standards of clinical care for patients utilising specialist knowledge;
  • Management or relevant post-graduate specialty qualifications (highly regarded);
  • Experience to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering and performance (desirable).


On offer is a Full-Time equivalent, base annual salary of;

•           $112,000 -$122,000 + Superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
