MENTAL HEALTH UNIT

The Keith Payne Unit at Greenslopes Private Hospital is a 30-bed inpatient and outpatient psychiatric unit that is committed to the health care of the veteran community. We are currently seeking a Social Worker with mental health experience to work 3 days per week. The position also provides an opportunity to work in other Allied Health areas, including pain management, oncology and acute care counselling.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

Essential:

• Degree in Social Work
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in a mental health care setting
• Demonstrated practical skills in discharge planning, care co-ordination, case conferences and community referral
• Demonstrated ability to effectively apply conflict resolution, crisis management and counselling skills
• Experience in group facilitation for the development of relationship skills
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong commitment to customer service, quality outcomes and a flexible, positive approach to work
• Commitment to professional development and maintenance of current evidence-based practice

Desirable:

• Membership of relevant professional association (AASW) and an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)
• Specialised knowledge of PTSD and co-morbid diagnoses, the needs of the veteran community and mental health legislation
• Knowledge and clinical experience in pain management and acute hospital care
