Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation (RHRF) is seeking a full time Research Ethics and Governance coordinator to join a small team of dedicated individuals working in this area.

The Opportunity                         

Working within the National Research Unit of Ramsay Health Care, the successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support to a network of Hospitals, Researchers and Human Research Ethics Committees.

The role will be responsible for undertaking timely reviews of research Ethics applications, modifications and trial updates and will have the opportunity to develop skills that support the development of research strategy & systems to support research integrity.

The successful candidate will liaise with Researchers and Clinical Trial Coordinators throughout Ramsay Health Care to provide advice and support in the development and design of research ethics and governance prior to review. The position provides substantial administrative support in the submission of research proposals.

You will have the opportunity to make contributions to the strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures relating to research management within Ramsay Health Care and Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake timely reviews of research ethics applications submitted to the National Research Unit for Site approval working within a defined operational framework and a new electronic research information management system.
  • Provide advice and support to researchers and clinical trial coordinators in the development and design of research human research ethics and governance applications.
  • Provide support to the Ramsay Health Care HRECs, including coordinating research meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and follow-up with Researchers and Clinical Trial Coordinators to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of and comply with reporting obligations related to the research projects.
  • Contribute to the development of the National Research Unit through continuous improvement and adoption of new initiatives.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of the Research Ethics, Governance & Grants Database ensuring that the database is maintained and regular reports are provided through the system.
  • Proactively utilise and identify improvements to the information systems to deliver the best user experience for researchers and to ensure a secure and compliant electronic environment records.
  • Assist with the investigation and management of complex problems and enquiries, including investigating and managing complaints related to research ethics and compliance.
  • Provide other general administrative support to the work area as required


Your Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a research-intensive environment, with prior exposure to clinical trials or other clinical research activities and knowledge of research ethics and governance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and prioritise workload during busy periods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Well-developed time-management skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and legislation related to human research ethics and research governance within Australia.
  • Familiarity with using electronic research information management systems.


About Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation

In 2015, Ramsay Health Care established and registered Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation (RHRF), a registered not for profit organisation.  Operations of RHRF commenced in 2017, upon receipt of a core grant from the Paul Ramsay Foundation. This grant has led to the establishment of key research projects and a robust set of research programs over the past four years with a focus on mental health, health services and rehabilitation research. 

The core value proposition of RHRF is to fund research that will lead to actionable improvement of patient outcomes, preferencing Australian-based Ramsay hospitals/pharmacies.  As RHRF evolves the foundation continues to develop key priorities in research.  Currently, the key priority are cancer, mental health, cardiology and orthopaedics with a particular focus on the establishment of research that addresses key social determinants of health.   



  • A National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months may be asked of you
