About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head Theatre Technician to join our perioperative team. In this leadership role, you will guide and support theatre technicians and assist in preparing the operating theatre environment for procedures. This includes patient positioning, equipment preparation, and ensuring patient safety, dignity and comfort at all times in line with hospital policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

You will report directly to the Perioperative Services Manager.

 

About You

You will be an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual who thrives in a busy and dynamic operating theatre. You will bring strong experience in technical clinical support within acute care, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confidence in working collaboratively with a diverse team – including nurses, doctors, pathologists and non-clinical staff – is essential.

You will also bring:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Theatre Technician within an operating theatre (Essential)
  • Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technician Practice/Health Services Assistant or equivalent (Essential)
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience (Highly regarded)
  • The flexibility to work across a rotating roster
  • Strong proficiency in computer systems (Highly regarded)

 

Remuneration

Base Hourly Rates in accordance with Enterprise Agreement + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.

Northern Private Hospital is a 70-bed surgical and medical hospital located in New Epping, 22km from Melbourne’s CBD. Opened in February 2024, Northern Private Hospital facilities include 4 operating theatres, cardiac cathertisation laboratory, day chemotherapy, sleep study unit, on-site pharmacy, pathology and radiology. The Northern Private is also directly linked to Northern Public Hospital.

Requirements

  • Provide or complete a National Police Check (conducted within the last 12 months)
