About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Emergency Department. As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee day-to-day clinical and resource management, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will work closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, supporting staff development, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring compliance with best practice and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support nursing staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
- Oversee daily operational management, including clinical governance, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Drive initiatives to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Support staff recruitment, rostering, and performance management.
- Contribute to the hospital’s strategic and operational objectives as part of the management team.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Current registration with AHPRA and relevant nursing qualifications.
- Minimum eight years’ post-graduate experience, with recent management experience in a hospital setting.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire clinical teams.
- Strong financial, human resource, and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
Highly Regarded
- Post-graduate qualifications in management or specialty nursing.
- Experience in surgical, critical care, or emergency nursing.
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation.
