The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced & enthusiastic National SHS Manager to join the well-established Qube team in West Perth. The primary purpose of this position will be to assist in developing and executing the strategic and operational SHSQ plans, managing and driving behavioural safety change across the business and to provide day-to-day support and advice to a variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensure the business unit complies with group SHSQ standards and statutory obligations by ensuring that compliance audits are completed and action plans are developed and executed.
  • Provide governance and assurance that all QE sites are meeting training requirements and liaise with trainers to identify and close gaps.
  • Support the growth of the QE Business through supporting tenders and subsequent implementation of SHSMS in new contracts.
  • Lead, mentor and coach site SHS Advisors, through regular site visits to ensure that SHSMS is being implemented effectively on site.
  • Participate, with the Line Manager, in the performance evaluation and development planning of SHS Advisors.
  • Assist in development and execution of projects to improvement safety and environmental performance.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of the audit programme to ensure the ISO45001, ISO9001 and ISO 14001 certification is maintained by completing internal audits and working closely with sites to prepare them for the applicable certification and surveillance audits.
  • Collate reports that include incidents & safety statistics, recordable injuries, lead and lag indicators as required for Divisional and corporate reporting.
  • Facilitate and conduct risk assessments and associated risk reduction initiatives.
  • Assist in conducting accident / incident investigations, using our preferred method of investigation (ICAM). Ensure that investigations are entered into the on-line incident management system and are monitored for completion.
  • Provide input to the GM SHS, recommending and facilitating system improvements and initiatives to ensure legal and statutory compliance, by participating in management reviews of the SHSMS system
  • Assist in provision of SHSQ requirements for tender submissions as required.
  • Providing support to site based management on RTW and Injury Management.
  • Assist in providing a consistent approach to SHSQ risk including tolerability and ALARP.

 

Qualification & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience leading in an operational SHS environment
  • Must have obtained a OHS/WHS or similar qualification from a tertiary institution
  • Must have obtained a Cert IV in Training & Assessment
  • An understanding of ICAM methodology or similar
  • Lead auditor experience with ISO9001, 45001 and 14001.
  • Competent understanding of SHSQ statistics, with ability to report and analyse SHSQ data to identify trends and implement improvements
  • Surface ventilation officer qualifications (or willingness to achieve)
  • Ability to undertake large scale risk assessments
  • Ability to develop tactical and strategic plans to address safety issues.
  • A strong commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Advanced technical writing skills
  • Ability to mentor SHS Advisors and provide advice on SHS operational issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft word applications
