What's the role?
We are seeking an experienced & reliable Heavy Plant Mechanic (Fitter) to join the Maintenance Team across Qube’s Midwest Port operations. The primary responsibilities of a Mobile Heavy Plant Mechanic is to undertake the inspection, fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all Heavy Mobile Plant Equipment & Port Operation Fleets both safely & efficiently. A suitable candidate will have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work under pressure and independently.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:
- Heavy Diesel Mechanic/Fitter Trade Certificate - Essential
- Air-Conditioning Ticket – highly regarded, but not mandatory
- High-Risk Licence; Fork-Lift, EWP – or ability to obtain
- Minimum 2 years’ prior working experience in a Fixed or Mobile Plant environment
- Prior working experience with fixed plant machinery & equipment eg. CAT, Liebherr, Kalmar, large forklift (10 tonne +)
- Ability to assist in delivering effective mechanical decisions to ensure plant reliability and operability
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- National Police Clearance (within 6 months validity) – or ability to obtain one
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment, with a proactive approach to task resolution to maintain a high quality of work
- Ability to maintain accurate records of work completed
- Have a positive attitude
