About the role:

Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the receival, storage and distribution of grain commodities within the Carrington Terminal precinct, through effective leadership of the operations team and efficient facility management practices.

The successful applicant will be required to work closely with maintenance teams to effectively coordinate day to day activities throughout our Grain Terminal site. 

Responsibilities:

 

‒ Oversee daily operations in accordance with policies and procedures with a steadfast focus on Safety, Hygiene and People Engagement & Management
‒ Appointed to the Role of Team Leader
‒ Implements quality control techniques and procedures
‒ Creation and reconciliation of regular reports as required by the Terminal 

‒​Monitor production outcomes utilising an internal operating system (SCADA), including the identification of areas for improvement 

‒​Assist with the development of operational plans and manage execution at site level

‒​Develop, oversee and provide coaching to site staff (both permanent and casual)

‒​Personnel management including rosters, performance and conduct management

 

 Essential skills and experience:

 

‒ Holds current Marine Security Identification Card orcapability of obtaining
‒ Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
‒ Ability to supervise and provide direction to other employees including the ability to assist in the provision of on-the-job training and induction
‒ Liaise with customers regarding operational and quality requirements as required
‒ Previous experience in a similar role desirable
‒ Previous grain industry experience beneficial
‒ Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and solve problems effectively
‒ Proven capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
‒ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
‒ Experience using inventory management systems
‒ Proficient in MS Suite
‒ Self-motivated with excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
‒ Grain classification experience desirable
‒ Strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
‒ Current driver’s license and proficiency in operating heavy machinery
