About the Role
Position: Trainee Train Driver
Location: Port Kembla
Status: Full-Time
The Trainee Train Driver Assistant position is a pathway to becoming a Qualified Train Driver. The role is initially focussed on providing operational support to the Train Driver in a way that ensures safe and efficient train operation in accordance with Qube Rail Safety Management Procedures and Systems, the relevant track access provider, regulator and siding owner rules and procedures. This entry-level trainee position offers the opportunity to work towards the completion of a Certificate IV in Train Driving while gaining hands-on industry experience.
Duties Include:
- Work with a commitment to safety and demonstrate Qube’s values of Integrity, Reliability and Inclusion
- Work in collaboration with a Qualified Driver to perform Rail Safety Work in Train Operations
- Participate in safety meetings training, briefing sessions and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations
- Work towards achieving the required units of competency as part of the Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42622)
- Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols and rules in order to facilitate the delivery of safe and efficient train operations
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Have a desire to learn and develop new skills
- Be willing and available to work in a dynamic 24/7 shift work roster
- Have a technical or trade background - preferred but not essential
- Hold a Current Driver’s Licence and provide recent drivers licence history
- Work collaboratively and harmoniously as a part of a team
- Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution, as well as being able to work in effectively in a team environment
- Be flexible and adaptable, and be able to work in a safety critical environment
- Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately orally and in writing
- Have a good general level of health and fitness
