Clinical Instructor Anatomical Pathology Blacksburg Area
The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a 1-year Clinical Instructor position in Anatomical Pathology. The candidate will join a team of five board certified anatomic pathologists and duties will include: providing diagnostic pathology service (including surgical biopsy and necropsy duty); teaching the DVM clinical students on the necropsy floor; and participating in histopathology rounds. The necropsy and biopsy services are part of Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS), an AAVLD accredited diagnostic laboratory, whose clients include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and veterinary clinics in the surrounding region.
Research Assistant Professor in Clinical Pathology Blacksburg Area
The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology in the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech has an open 12-month research faculty position that is eligible for tenure-track. The department seeks an early career clinical pathologist for a mentored research appointment prior to initiating the tenure clock This position involves research and diagnostic clinical pathology. Interest in research in the following areas is especially sought: immunology, toxicology, physiology, metabolism, cell biology, bioinformatics that can lead to innovative assay development in oncology, endocrinology, and comparable areas. Competitive startup package will include lab space, equipment and personnel support as appropriate for the candidate’s research background. Many collaborative opportunities exist in the areas of oncology, neurology, cardiovascular and translational topics through the Fralin Life Sciences Institute, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute and the Animal Cancer Care and Research Center at Virginia Tech.

A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position is available in Dr. Seleem’s laboratory on NIH-Funded project for highly motivated candidates who are interested in antimicrobial drug discovery. You will be a member of a diverse and innovative group of scientists discovering and developing new antimicrobials for the treatment of infectious diseases and drug-resistant pathogens. The training environment is especially rich for infectious diseases and immunology research because of a robust and interactive research community. The PI will work closely with the successful candidate in a collaborative lab environment to develop the project and help the trainee achieve their career goals. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, Pharmacy, biology, medical sciences or related field. Prior research experience in antimicrobial, microbiology, or drug discovery will be a plus. Strong written, oral communication, and critical thinking skills are required.
