Job Description

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position, open rank, that has been created to address the growing need for expertise in clinical research education on Virginia Tech’s Health Sciences campus. Through a unique public-private partnership between a cutting edge-research university and a major health care institution, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine educates physician thought leaders through inquiry, research, and discovery. Our robust undergraduate medical education research program, in place since the inception of the school in 2010, requires all students to conduct hypothesis-driven research in a longitudinal program that spans all four years of the curriculum. Responsibilities of the Director of Clinical Research Education would encompass engagement with this medical student research curriculum at VTCSOM in addition to relevant clinical practice and research. This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Research in their role as director of VTCSOM’s Research Value Domain.

Required Qualifications

- Practicing licensed MD/DO
- Clinical research experience and original research publications
- Experience in clinical research education

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced training in clinical research in addition to MD/DO (e.g., PhD, MPH, MS, clinical research fellowship)
- Experience in undergraduate medical education
- Experience in academic medical center environment, preferably associated with a research center, institute or CTSA program
