Job Description

Responsible for performing routine and complex procedures in Diagnostic Imaging to produce high quality images of anatomical structures for interpretation by the radiologist. Adheres to and enforces mandatory radiation safety measures in all areas. Participates in equipment maintenance program. Reviews and evaluates radiographic, CT and MRI images to determine if satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Performs nuclear medicine exams with supervision of a radiologist. Instructs senior veterinary student in radiation safety, correct imaging positioning and technique. Performs related clerical duties. Required to work variable schedule and take after hours call

Required Qualifications

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Registered Radiology Technologist (RTR); Previous experience and working knowledge of diagnostic radiology; previous experience and working knowledge of biomedical imaging equipment; previous experience with veterinary patients; excellent communication skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, students, faculty and patients; ability to readily learn new procedures, must be adaptable; Rabies prophylaxis is required (provided by employer); Must be able to report within 30 minutes when on call.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience handling large animals, primarily horses preferred; Previous experience and working knowledge of CT, MRI or Nuclear Imaging.
