Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a 1-year Clinical Instructor position in Anatomical Pathology. The candidate will join a team of five board certified anatomic pathologists and duties will include: providing diagnostic pathology service (including surgical biopsy and necropsy duty); teaching the DVM clinical students on the necropsy floor; and participating in histopathology rounds. The necropsy and biopsy services are part of Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS), an AAVLD accredited diagnostic laboratory, whose clients include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and veterinary clinics in the surrounding region.

Required Qualifications

DVM or equivalent degree by date of hire. Employer will accept degree that is equivalent to DVM or foreign equivalent of DVM by date of hire.
Successful completion of an approved residency training program by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) by date of hire.
Must be eligible to obtain a Virginia faculty license by the date of hire.
Good interpersonal skills and team player.

Preferred Qualifications

Passed phase 1 of ACVP board exam and completed at least 2 years of a traditional pathology program with experience in large animal and companion animal diagnostics
