Job Description

IT / Multimedia Specialist provides support for audiovisual equipment provided for instructional use on the Virginia Tech Carilion campus in Roanoke Virginia. The position is responsible for assisting senior technicians and VTCSOM Directors in the installation, maintenance, and operation of audiovisual systems, IT systems, and educational technology platforms serving as the lead IT/AV technician for all classroom events, and providing technical production support for VTCSOM.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of Windows and Apple based computer systems, both hardware and operating systems. Basic troubleshooting skills in regard to audiovisual systems, live-streaming platforms and camera operations. Knowledge of LMS systems and teleconferencing platforms. Basic PC / Printer / Software troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience installing and maintaining audiovisual systems in an educational environment. Experience providing basic Windows and Macintosh OS support in an educational environment. Experience with audiovisual controls systems; mobile and fixed sound reinforcement systems; wireless microphone systems; and with video archiving and file conversion. Experience in a University setting with a preference for a medical school environment.
