Job Description

The Operations Assistant works with the Program and Operations Directors to ensure that everything on all the WVTF platforms and services is produced and aired as scheduled. Duties include engineering/producing local programs and content such as promos and funders; assisting with recording local underwriting spots and engineering Comrex and OPAL connections.

Job requires on-air duties including but not limited to regular classical programming and hosting and acting as a fill in host on any slot on either WVTF Music or Radio IQ programming streams.

Works closely with other departments to assist functions that rely on our production and broadcast operations including Development, Engineering, News, Office and Business Department, and the General Manager. Helps trains staff on studio and related functions. Attends regular staff meetings and is an active participant in all WVTF fundraising activities.

Required Qualifications

Considerable on-air radio experience. Significant experience in radio production and audio editing. Must be proficient with computers and all FCC/EAS rules and regulations as it pertains to board operations. Four-year college degree preferably in broadcast, communications, or related field or equivalent work experience. Can work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience in public broadcasting and in participating in public radio fund raising drives. Basic experience posting on digital platforms including website content and social media.
