Job Description

The Department of Engineering Education (EngE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track (T/TT) positions at the assistant or associate rank. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied educational research. It is expected that these positions will provide instruction and bring specialized engineering education research expertise to the departmental research portfolio. T/TT faculty members will be assigned responsibility for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising PhD students, and serving on graduate student committees; these faculty members are also expected to support a substantial externally funded research program. Occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings will be required.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in engineering education, engineering, education, or a closely related field at time of appointment; a strong record of academic accomplishments and a proven ability to work collaboratively; experience with and commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction; and a willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal challenges.

Required Qualifications

● PhD in engineering education, engineering, education, or a closely related field, conferred by the start date of appointment.
● Experience producing engineering education research and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.

Preferred Qualifications

● At least one degree (BS, MS, PhD) in engineering or a related field is desirable.
● Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students.
