The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is looking for an exceptional Emergency Critical Care (ECC) Supervisor with a collaborative and inspirational leadership style to oversee the operations of our 24/7 emergency service and ICU ward. The supervisor will provide mentoring and foster an inclusive environment based on respect and mutual appreciation, all while ensuring that the team is providing excellent patient care.

The supervisor will provide direction and guidance, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively in managing the day-to-day operations of the services. Duties including staff scheduling (daily, on-call and holiday), providing coaching and performance feedback, managing supplies, maintaining equipment, and other supervisory duties as directed. You will still get to utilize your technical training as well. Leverage and teach your valuable skills to future veterinarians, while providing compassionate, nursing care to our critical patients!

How you can help us:

                Perform triage and patient assessments for our ICU patients

                Venipuncture and catheter placement (peripheral, jugular, triple lumen)

                 Cystocentesis, urinary catheters, naso-gastric and naso-esophageal tubing

                Oxygen therapies, chest tube management, mechanical ventilation

                 CPR, BP, ECGs, and other advanced, life-saving procedures related to ER/ICU medicine

                Competitive salary:  $60,000 – $75,000 (commensurate with experience)

Required Qualifications

Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT);Working knowledge of basic nursing skills; ability to place intravenous catheters; experience with managing staff issues, ability to understand instructions; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer).
