This position is located at the Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center, located in Blackstone, Virginia. The position will provide support as an agricultural technician by collecting research information and maintaining research plots to include planting, irrigating, cultivating and harvesting. Duties include driving back and forth between research plots both on and off the AREC grounds to carry out these tasks.
Experience and/or education in agriculture or basic science; Knowledge of duties required in the production and research of crops in fields, greenhouses, and laboratories; Experience working in adverse weather conditions. Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Experience with tobacco field production. Experience with forage production.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
