Open Rank Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Position

 

The Virginia Tech School of Education is seeking applications for an open-rank professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) to join a vibrant, highly committed group of program faculty. This nine-month, tenure-track/tenured faculty position is available August 2022 at the main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Responsibilities: Conducting an active research agenda; pursuing external grant funding; teaching courses (virtual, hybrid, and/or face-to-face) in master’s and doctoral programs that prepare students for a broad range of administrative and leadership roles in PreK-12 school systems, government agencies, and non-profit organizations; and providing impactful service to the School, College, University, and profession. The expected/standard teaching load is four courses per academic year.

Required qualifications:*      

  • A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in educational leadership or a terminal degree in a related field by appointment start date
  • Outstanding record of scholarship, teaching, outreach, and service commensurate with rank
  • Evidence of tangible outcomes related to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Position requires occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach graduate courses online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face
  • Expertise in areas such as public school administration, personnel, public school law, public school finance, curriculum and other forms of leadership, and qualitative and quantitative research
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and commitment to working with diverse, rural, and/or international populations
  • Extensive record of externally-funded, impactful research
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor master’s and doctoral students, including chairing/serving on dissertation committees
  • Demonstrated ability to design and teach online courses using the Quality Matters Standards (or some equivalent)
  • Public Pre-K-12 school/central office leadership experience
