Job Description

The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing digital advertising, marketing emails, and digital campaigns to support the Virginia Tech brand, fundraising, and stewardship initiatives. This position is key implementing and managing digital assets from start to finish. In addition, this position will support the management the marketing calendar, advise on timing and segmentation, advise on digital marketing best practices and standards, ensure all marketing campaigns are appropriately tagged for analytics tracking, and assist with campaign performance reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day email marketing activities including the management of email campaigns, email set-up, scheduling, testing, and tagging.

Build, test, deploy, and optimize digital advertising campaigns.

Assists with the build and management of marketing automation customer journeys, mobile messaging, landing pages, and vanity urls.

Implement and test advertising platform pixels and conversion events.

Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure digital marketing efforts are on-schedule and well-paced.

Assists with reporting and analysis of digital marketing performance for brand, fundraising, and stewardship initiatives.

Utilize project management software to organize and plan digital campaigns.

Support the implementation of marketing efforts for digital fundraising campaigns.

Consult with colleagues regarding digital best practices and assure brand quality standards are maintained.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Experience or knowledge of developing, testing, and distributing email marketing campaigns.

Experience or knowledge of configuring and managing digital advertising.

Experience or knowledge of using Google Analytics or similar.

Strong project management skills with the ability to understand business needs and effectively work with a multi-disciplinary team.

Well-developed communication, writing, organization and collaboration skills


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability and willingness to travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of transportation.

Ability to work nights and weekends, and participation in college or university programs when possible.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in digital, marketing, business, or related field.

Experience with the Facebook/Instagram Ads, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ad, TikTok Ads, and/or the Google Ads platforms; or relevant experience.

Experience developing, testing, and distributing large email marketing campaigns.

Knowledge of basic HTML.

Experience using Google Tag Manager to deploy pixels and advertising events.
