Job Description

Serves as the primary staff member responsible for handling and processing all incoming funds, including but not limited to individual donors, corporate underwriters, site lease clients, corporate matching gift companies, federal and state agencies, foundations, and other sources of revenue. Will be proficient in using WVTF donor database, corporate underwriting radio traffic software, and related university computer applications. Performs and/or oversees bookkeeping and billing functions for all accounts payable and receivable. Creates monthly reports, as directed, for University Relations, the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., and the WVTF General Manager. Provides reports for auditors upon request. Responsible for general office and building activities and functions as directed by the General Manager. Supervises the WVTF Administrative Assistant (formerly Receptionist). Oversees contracted office and building services, including Janitorial, grounds and landscaping, etc. The Business Manager will liaise with Advancement Services for various functions to ensure consistency in process and programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience of advanced level bookkeeping and financial management. Demonstrated experience of banking systems. Experience with credit card handling and processing procedures. Demonstrated experience with various software applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as working knowledge of database applications. Demonstrated experience in interpreting federal, state and agency policies and procedures related to public radio station operations and reporting. Demonstrated experience in quick understanding and expediting processes with demonstrated ability to compile information for management and in response to customer inquiries. Demonstrated operation and control oriented office management skill with excellent communication skills in dealing with the public, donors and business associates. Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct the work of others and work together with management to create a creative and professional team. Demonstrated experience in holding information in confidence and exercises highest ethical judgment. Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working/volunteering with Public Radio Broadcasting or basic understanding and appreciation of Public Radio Broadcasting. Prior experience working with Virginia Tech or the Virginia Tech Foundation or comparable institution. Prior experience working in non-profit organizations.
