Job Description

The Teaching and Research Artist (TRA) at the Embodied Brain Laboratory (EBL) will be responsible for developing and implementing all mind-body-movement research studies. The TRA will spearhead curriculum development and study execution on all EBL studies that involve elements of dance education, as well as somatic experiencing, yoga, Pilates, or other wellness-oriented movement modalities. Areas of research may include – but are not limited to – dance as a mechanism for parent-child interaction, the effects of online/in-person dance instruction as a mental health intervention, and the effects of dance instruction on adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), combat veterans, or trauma survivors. Provide consistency of instruction across all EBL dance-based research studies, as well as to deepen the lab’s understanding of appropriate pedagogical methods for dance-specific research interests.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree or higher in Education, Dance, Psychology or other related field. Extensive experience with teaching dance, yoga, mindfulness, Pilates, and/or other somatic awareness modalities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with neurodiverse populations (ASD, ADHD). Familiarity with ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma-informed care. Fluency in Bartenieff Movement Fundamentals. Working knowledge of Laban Movement Analysis.
