Job Description

This position reports to the Urban Pest Management Specialist and will be responsible for feeding and maintenance of laboratory bed bug, cockroach, and ant populations, as well as laboratory (and laboratory vehicle) maintenance, cleanliness and organization. Duties include but are not limited to: bed bug, cockroach and ant colony maintenance; preparation of insect colonies for research bioassays; participation and leadership in field research (many overnights); and assisting in graduate student research. Applicants must also enjoy interacting with the public and have a willingness to work in bed bug and cockroach infested structures. Applicants must be able to work in high allergen environments due to daily exposure to cockroaches and bed bugs.

Required Qualifications

Applicant must have basic computer skills for using Windows software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Applicants must be able to work in high allergen environments due to daily exposure to cockroaches and bed bugs.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have experience working in multi-unit housing with pest management professionals and housing residents.
