The Director of Technology provides leadership and hands-on process planning, acquisition, design, programming, implementation, and ongoing technical support for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. The successful applicant will provide oversight to network infrastructure, web application development, educational technology applications as well as user support services for on and off-campus programs. The successful applicant will actively participate in the college's strategic planning, and resource management, along with the college's IT policy development and deployment, as well as representing the IT interests of the college at the university, regional, and national levels. The Director of Technology will work closely with the Director of Education Technology to ensure efficient and effective access to technology by students and faculty. In addition, the director must lead the development and maintenance of network connectivity to Virginia Tech and external entities, as well as software, communication devices, programming, and integration. The position collaborates with Virginia Tech’s Division of IT to leverage university-provided common and enterprise services while directing staff, vendors, and other third parties to ensure problems are resolved in a timely fashion.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare business, or related field and experience.
Must demonstrate expertise in leading network infrastructure planning and troubleshooting. Must be a self-initiated team player with strong leadership, organizational and analytical skills. Capable of prioritizing multiple complex problems and meeting deadlines.
Professional with advanced communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and entities.
Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field and/or experience.
Significant network planning, engineering, and/or provisioning experience.
Experience planning, coordinating, provisioning, and troubleshooting network and communication support services for academic, administrative, and research users.
Experience managing, coordinating, and monitoring compliance for users in a confidential (HIPPA, FERPA, etc.) restricted service environment.
Experience in Project Management preferred.
Commensurate with experience (starting at 90K)
