The departments of Biological Systems Engineering and Biochemistry are seeking to hire a joint Communications Coordinator, who will develop, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive communications program and strategies for both departments in support of their vision and strategic directions. This position is responsible for maintaining the department website, internal television monitors, and social media platforms. Maintenance includes updating and enhancing material routinely, overseeing the management, organization, and structure of the department's public content across all media and advancing the department's presence through a multimedia effort. Independently writes and edits content and leads development of monthly electronic and twice annual newsletters highlighting ongoing and new department initiatives. Ensures compliance with university brand standards in all initiatives involving communications, marketing, and public activities. Works closely with the department's faculty to collect data and information for electronic and print materials. Responsible for arranging or taking photos; works with videographer to edit video as needed. Works collaboratively with colleagues from CALS, VT News and University Relations to enhance the reputation of and build support for the department's programs.
Experience designing social media campaigns, writing professionally, photography and building websites.
BS degree in communications, marketing or a related field. Experience with marketing approaches using digital and print media.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
