The Assistant Director for Belonging and Strategic Initiatives reports to the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. The Assistant Director will provide leadership and support for initiatives to improve the campus and college climate, with particular emphasis on programming and learning and development. The ideal candidate will be a skilled relationship-builder capable of designing innovative programming based on community feedback, perspectives, and insight and best practices.
The Assistant Director for Belonging and Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for creation, delivery, and assessment of impactful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming. The ideal candidate will be a skilled relationship-builder capable of designing innovative and differentiated programming based on community feedback, perspectives, and insight. Additionally, the ideal candidate will understand the importance of connecting these efforts back to a broader strategic vision, priorities, and goals.
● Bachelor's degree
● Three (3) or more years of work experience in areas including but not limited to teaching, advising, training, organizational development
● Prior experience developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
● Professional certification related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or belonging topics
● Experience and strong interest in supporting diverse constituencies in a complex higher education setting
● Experience working in medical setting
● Experience working in higher education
Pay Band 4; to commensurate with experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
