Job Description

The Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the position Pharmacy Technician. This position assists the pharmacist in the daily operation of the hospital pharmacy by preparing medications, filling clinicians' prescriptions, delivering and charging medications for in and outpatients under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Performs various technical and clerical duties to ensure accurate professional and lawful execution of standards established by the State Board of Pharmacy for clinical and hospital operations

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of veterinary pharmaceuticals; data entry experience; ability to organize work by tasks; excellent communication skills; ability to write effectively with good typing skills; excellent computer and math skills. Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in veterinary health care desirable; National Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification desired; technical pharmacy experience desirable; education or training in pharmacy procedures, biology, pharmacology, and math desirable.
