The Work Stress and Recovery Lab (PI: Dr. Charles Calderwood) in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a large-scale project focused on connections between workday experiences and commuting safety behaviors. The project has a specific focus on how different daily work conditions and work-related strain reactions influence both pre-work and post-work unsafe commuting behaviors. The position will have a particular emphasis on evaluating and modeling complex temporal trends and trajectories in how these work conditions and work-related strain reactions relate to commuting safety indicators over time.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in industrial / organizational psychology, quantitative psychology, or a closely related field, with particular experience in applying complex multilevel statistical applications. The candidate needs to have experience mentoring more junior scholars (e.g., Master's and Ph.D. students, undergraduate research assistants). The candidate should have experience both in presenting scientific research at national conferences and publishing in high quality applied psychology peer-reviewed journals. Excellent communications and writing skills are essential to success in the position.
Preferred candidates will have expertise or proficiency conducting multilevel statistical analyses in MPlus and R. Preferred candidates will have a track record of publishing quantitatively sophisticated peer-reviewed research that involves analyzing and evaluating temporal trends in psychological variables over time.
