Job Description

The Hoyt lab seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in experimental disease ecology to help lead and coordinate efforts examining the effects indirect transmission on infectious disease outbreaks. As part of a recently funded NIH Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases award, we will be conducting a study to understand the ecological drivers of pathogen transmission in wildlife communities with an emphasis on environmentally mediated transmission.

The Fellow will be responsible for assisting with experimental design and setup, permitting and IACUC, coordinating day to day animal care, analysis of data, and leading of manuscripts. This project is being conducted in the snake fungal disease system and there are substantial opportunities to design independent projects and build on new ideas within the system. This project includes a larger collaborative group with co-PIs in Biological Science and Math at Virginia Tech, as well as University of Kentucky, Yale, and USGS. The postdoc will work as part of the larger team and help coordinate among groups.

The Hoyt lab is housed in an infectious disease collaborative space, which provides an environment for interdisciplinary research on environment-infectious disease relationships. For more information about the lab please visit hoytresearch.org. The position is for on-site work only and includes a competitive salary and fringe benefits.
