Job Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Diversity, the Project Manager will work with the VP on initiatives in support of The Virginia Tech Difference: Advancing Beyond Boundaries (Virginia Tech’s strategic plan) and the diversity strategic plans. Responsibilities include management of the VP’s calendar and schedule, and preparation for meetings and presentations. Projects may revolve around strategic planning, the continuous planning process for the university, fiscal support, event planning, designing presentations, data collection and analysis, and administrative support. The Project Manager may work on developing contact rosters, conduct web searches, build databases, write briefs on subjects supporting the VP’s work, draft emails, and correspondences, and develop forms and approval processes as needed. The Project Manager will be able to work independently, be a self-starter, maintain contact with the VP, maintain confidentiality, and provide timely updates and communication on projects.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related area.
Extensive organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and community partners.
Experience coordinating and planning events in a higher education setting.
Skilled at performing multiple duties related to programs and initiatives across a variety of university operational and administrative workflows.
Ability to confidentially work with sensitive data and information.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education, strategic planning, or project management
Familiarity with working with VT campus stakeholders and partners.
Working knowledge of tools such as Excel, Google/Microsoft Forms, QuestionPro, Qualtrics, Tableau, etc.
