Job Description

The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia is seeking a team member to join its premiere full-service equine veterinary hospital. The role of the general veterinary assistant is to support a variety of departments within the hospital, including, but not limited to the operating room, clinic supply, patient care, outpatient services, and diagnostic imaging. The general veterinary assistant would be responsible for proper care and sterilization of surgical instruments, adhering to high standards of cleanliness and disinfection throughout the hospital, assisting with surgical procedures, supporting diagnostic imaging, providing equine husbandry, and carrying out a variety of administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of equine husbandry. Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions and established protocols and procedures. Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Veterinary hospital experience; previous experience in restraining and handling horses safely and effectively; veterinary assistant experience; operating room experience (human or veterinary), experience with practice management information systems.
