Job Description

The Facility Operations Manager for VTRC-A is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of building operations, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the VTRC-A facilities

The Facility Operations Manager plays a key role in collaborating with the regional operations team to provide recommendations and solutions on building-related issues. The role involves developing and implementing regional building Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), managing work orders, and ensuring accurate occupancy and usage data for the university.

This position is also responsible for overseeing access control, managing key inventories, coordinating with property management on operational changes, and ensuring security measures are in place. In addition, the Facility Operations Manager handles maintenance planning including the management of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and facilitating building coordination groups. As the owner’s representative for both capital and non-capital construction projects, the Facility Operations Manager ensures projects are completed to specifications and meets customer and institutional needs.

The role also will contribute to the consolidation of regional facilities. The Facility Operations Manager ensures that all services related to lease management, maintenance, operations, and emergency preparedness are executed to the highest standards, aligning with the institution's goals and requirements.

The successful candidate must be professional, organized, flexible, and have the ability to work independently. Be able to manage conflict and have good problem-solving skills. Must have strong attention to detail with the ability to research information while being task-oriented, data entry experience with a high degree of accuracy. Candidate must be able to work under high-volume, stressful conditions while maintaining a high level of efficiency and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Organizational Leadership, or related field or equivalent level of training and experience
• Proven experience in constituent-facing role in facilities management, or a related field.
• Experience in managing vendor and contractor relationships, including overseeing service contracts.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office programs such as database applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational
• Knowledge of building emergency coordination, including organizing drills and coordinating with emergency services.
• Ability to serve as the primary contact for security and emergency issues within the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to learn and utilize proprietary software systems
• Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
• Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance terminology, practices and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability work positively with diverse constituents of all levels .
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Experience providing high-level customer service in a professional environment.
