Support and promote the work of two organizations: A) The Virginia Tech Center for Drug Discovery (VTCDD), which aims to foster collaboration among scientists at Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg and Roanoke campuses. This Center is administratively housed in the College of Science but includes 50 faculty from 5 colleges within Virginia Tech. Recurrent funding is provided by the Fralin Life Sciences Institute. B) The Virginia Drug Discovery Consortium (VaDDC) is made up of 8 organizations and works to promote inter-university and public-private partnerships for drug discovery across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Funds for VaDDC come from the proceeds of annual symposia, and are housed at Virginia Tech. The person selected for this post will report to the Director of the VTCDD, currently Professor Ali Andalibi, who is also the Chair of the Executive Committee of VaDDC.
B.S. degree or comparable applicable experience; Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills; Excellent interpersonal and organizational (time management) skills; Expert knowledge of MS Office and Google apps; Exerience managing social media channels; Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and website design and maintenance; Basic knowledge of financial accounting practices; Experience planning large events, negotiating prices with venues, and liaising with event participants; Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Experience working with higher education faculty and staff at all levels; Familiarity with Virginia Tech’s information database (BANNER), purchasing software (HokieMart), enterprise website management system (Ensemble), financial reporting (MicroStrategy, Depart), Wordpress website authoring software, and Eventbrite Conference billing software
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
