Job Description

We’re currently searching for an Associate Director for Programs and Assessment to join our Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Recreational Sports Venture Out team; a department centered on promoting fitness, sport, wellbeing and adventure by providing excellent recreational facilities and programs.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Director of Recreational Sports in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 
3) You’ll serve as a member of the departmental leadership team providing strategic direction of recreational programs to promote the mission of health and well-being to the campus community.
4) You'll provide direct oversight of all recreation programs including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Fitness, Venture Out and Events and aim to provide top quality programmatic experiences that drive the Hokie Movement and meet the ever-changing needs of a diverse student and campus population.
5) You'll lead the departmental comprehensive assessment program which includes tracking usage trends, assessing administrative and learning outcomes, measuring customer service, benchmarking Recreational Sports initiatives, and other assessment needs.
6) You'll work with each program and functional area to develop and implement the assessment plan as well as develop strategic goals and action items to continue to strive for excellence.
7) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
8) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $82,000 - $87,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Health Promotion, Public Health, Physical Education, or related field;
• Previous experience developing assessment plans including mission, goals, objectives and outcomes; developing and selecting assessment tools; administering and delivering assessment and evaluations; analyzing data and developing reports.
• Previous full-time leadership experience in developing and administering a program within campus recreation.
• Previous supervisory experience of full-time staff.
• Demonstrated budget development experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware and software applications such as Microsoft Teams, Innosoft Fusion, IMLeagues or other recreational management software.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Experience working on departmental, divisional, and/or university committees.
• Knowledge of a variety of sports rules and participation policies.
• CPR/AED, first aid, and blood borne pathogens certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience with efficient, effective, and engaging public speaking.
• Experience with statistical software such as Excel, SPSS, SAS or another solution.
