The Unsteady Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory in the Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Tech is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the area of analytical aeroacoustics. The position is concerned primarily with the sound of unsteady vortex flows and their interactions with edges.
The position requires a PhD in engineering or a related technical field, where prior research experiences in the analysis of aerodynamic noise, vortex sound, and/or wave scattering are highly valued. The postdoctoral scholar will benefit from the multidisciplinary and collaborative research culture of the Center for Research and Engineering in Aero/Hydrodynamics Technologies (CREATe) led from within the Department. The successful candidate will be appointed to a single 12-month term.
- Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline;
- Ph.D. must have been awarded within the past four years with at least one year of eligibility remaining
- Experience with conducting analytical research in aeroacoustics
- Expertise with the modeling of vortical flows
- Experience working collaboratively with experimentalists in aeroacoustics
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
